Pocket ereader cooperation in China

I am very interesting with this wonderful industry and artistic product-- pocket ereader. it is very comfortable for people who go to work on their way or go out to travel . it is a good way to enjoy time on boarding .
I have a mobile application develop and design company in Beijing China . our primary work is developing and research serials mobile application. including business, games, entertainment, music etc, based on symbian ,kjava, winCE . and the other business is electronics media publish.
About this pocket ereader, it can give customer good feeling of usability ,availably, scalability, so I think we can create a cooperation framework of sales and service to open Chinese e-books market. there are 4 million people outgoing to work by bus or subway ,it costs about 40 min to 1 hour for everyone. they can use this time to read with mobile phone and play psp and thinking, we can lock this people to our target and using power of sale channel of our company to extend our business.
At last ,I have a little request ,can I buy one pocket ereader for myself to experience and collection. also I can report my feeling of it . And I hope your reply .thanks a lot

Any updates on release date and retail price for USA?

I'm still eagerly awaiting one of these. I don't see any recent press though. The Kindle/Sony form factors are completely impractical for my needs but they do prove eInk displays are perfect for this application.

The ability to carry tech manuals, training materials, and application documentation will make this as valuable for work as it will be for leisure.

Updates from Readius?

Hi,
Thanks for your continued interest in Readius! Please have a look at the Wired.com interview with Karl McGoldrick our CEO, regarding progress of Readius. With a re-financing of Polymer Vision coming closer we will soon be able to focus again completely on market launch of Readius. We will keep you updated about the status via this Readius blog.

Interest from HK

Hi, thanks for your comments and feedback, all input is welcome.
At this stage we have integrated B&W epaper in our rollable display. But have a look at the video from our full colour rollable display prototype which was demonstrated at 2008 SID conference. It shows more will be possible in the future and Polymer Vision is working on it.

Look forward to seeing it in Hong Kong

I have been looking forward to something like your product, since I saw 'digital paper' around 2006.

Looking forward also to the price range and positioning you are aiming at. A Sony eBook is priced between USD300-350 with Google to provide a half million copyright-free books available for its Reader device and Kindle is about USD360...

With the mono color, I will be willing to try one if it is price around USD300-350. As I already have a Fujitsu U2010, a 3.5 Smartphone....

Is there any reason why only mono display?

Just some comment as a potential user.

Thanks.

When can China users see it?

Dear Thomas,

I am very interested in Readius. I am very sure that at least 10 million mobile users in China will be interested in it regardless the economic crisis. As I know, most of my colleagues change mobile phone every year. They will rush at Readius when it's available in China market.
I hope you can arrange some presentation in China. I can provide some help if necessary.

When can China users see it?

Dear Gucheng,
Thanks for your input. Obviously China represents a huge potential for Readius however we will focus our efforts on Europe first and then spread out to other regions in the world. As an indication I would expect a launch in China to be possible from Q3 2009 onwards.

website for Polymer Vision?

I was browsing the Readius related sites to see if there was anything new and noticed that Polymer Vision's website is gone. I also have noticed that the launch date is sometime in 2009 for the reader. Is the economy's woes taking its toll on the product's development? Was the book fair worth the time and effort or not?

Hoping for the product's rollout...

Garry

Opportunities for Readius

Hi Gary, thanks for your concerns.
Despite the troubled general economic outlook the signs for those markets that are important for Readius are still positive; eReading is growing in popularity and mobile data traffic shows strong growth as well. Readius is at the crossing of these 2 trends offering eReading and updated information while on the move.
This was also clear at the book fair in Frankfurt. There was great interest at the Readius presentation and my colleague was overwhelmed by the media attention. The reactions of the public were positive and the opportunity to push eBooks and information around books to the Readius over the air was seen as a great advantage by publishers.
More in general the drive of publishers to publish ebooks at the same time as printing them on paper is getting stronger and stronger so more and more econtent will become available to the public.
So for Readius the signs are still very positive! Thomas
